Thousands of students will be returning to school tomorrow which will mean extra pedestrian and vehicular traffic on the streets in HRM. Motorists are asked to drive with caution and to allow for delays when traveling before and after school.
Please avoid shortcutting in and around school areas if possible. Obey crossing guards’ directions, watch out for children crossing the street and remember that crosswalks are not always marked.
Failing to yield to pedestrians within a crosswalk and passing school buses when the red lights are flashing not only put people in danger but are driving infractions that carry substantial fines.
