Baddeck man and woman arrested for drug related offences, Baddeck, N.S.

Sydney RCMP Federal Serious and Organized Crime, with the assistance of Cape Breton RCMP Integrated Traffic Services and Baddeck RCMP, arrested a Baddeck man and woman on Tuesday August 5th, 2014.

Sydney RCMP Federal Serious & Organized Crime received information that a package containing a large quantity of drugs was being shipped to David Fitzgerald of Baddeck. Further investigation resulted in the execution of warrants under the Controlled Drugs & Substances Act and the Criminal Code. As a result of this investigation, approximately 10 pounds of marijuana, 3 ounces of cocaine, approximately 2700 tablets of ecstasy, 6 ounces of ecstasy in powder form and approximately $2500.00 in cash were seized.

David Lawrence Fitzgerald, 53, was arrested at a Baddeck residence without incident. He is charged with Trafficking Cocaine, Marijuana and Ecstasy as well as Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in Cocaine, Ecstasy and Marijuana. Fitzgerald has been remanded into custody at the Cape Breton Correctional Center and will appear in Sydney Provincial Court on Monday August 11th, 2014 for a Bail Hearing.

Colleen Lyn D’Orsay, 38, was arrested in Baddeck without incident. She is charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in Marijuana. D’Orsay was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Baddeck Provincial Court on October 6th, 2014 for election and plea. The investigation is continuing.
