Badly needed: Soaking rain possible Sunday afternoon into Tuesday morning

Total rainfall: 40 to 80 mm, possibly higher. Locations: southwestern and central Nova Scotia. Time span: intensifying Sunday and persisting into Tuesday morning.

Remarks: A low pressure system developing off the U.S. eastern seaboard has the potential to bring significant rainfall amounts to start the week across many areas in Nova Scotia. There is uncertainty at this time of the heaviest total amounts.

Rainfall warnings may be required as this event draws nearer. Rainfall warnings are issued in the Maritimes for 50 mm in 24 hours, and 75 mm in 48 hours.
