Barricaded Man Surrenders to Police

A man has been arrested after an incident in Spryfield Wednesday afternoon.

At 1:51 p.m. officers responded to the 0-100 block of Old Sambro Road in relation to a weapons complaint. Preliminary indications were that a man inside a residence may have had access to a firearm. The Emergency Response Team attended and established communication with the man who eventually exited the home just after 6 p.m. The 62-year-old Halifax man was taken into custody without incident.

Officers assigned to the HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section are now investigating this incident and are waiting for a warrant to search the home. The man remains in custody, however, at this time no decision on charges has been made.
