Barrington and Prince Streets – Weekend Partial Street Closures

Thursday, June 8, 2017 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents and motorists that Barrington and Prince Streets will experience partial closures to motor vehicle, cyclist and pedestrian traffic to facilitate a crane removal from 1657 Barrington Street, the Roy Building.

Barrington Street will be closed between George and Sackville Street beginning 7 p.m. Friday, June 9 and reopen 7 p.m. Sunday, June 11.

Prince Street will be closed between Argyle and Granville Streets beginning 7 p.m. Friday, June 9 and reopen 7 p.m. Sunday, June 11.

The weekend closure will ensure a safe, efficient and timely removal of the crane as well as minimize public disruption.  Pedestrian access will be maintained to local businesses and all parking garages will be accessible.

Traffic control will be on-site throughout the project to direct traffic through marked detours and ensure pedestrians remain out of closed areas.

Halifax Transit passengers on routes that normally travel the affected portion of Barrington Street should expect minor service delays due to required detours. Call the Departures Lines at 902-480-8000 for up-to-date bus departure information for your bus stop during the street closure.

For more information regarding the street closures and detours related to the demolition work please visit www.halifax.ca/barrington

The municipality thanks residents in advance for their cooperation and patience.
