Barrington, Granville and Sackville Streets – Weekend Partial Street Closures

Tuesday, April 4, 2017 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents and motorists that Granville, Barrington and Sackville Streets will experience partial closures to motor vehicle, cyclist and pedestrian traffic to facilitate the demolition of 1593 Barrington Street.

Granville Street will be closed between Blowers and Sackville Streets beginning 7 a.m. Friday, April 7 and reopen 7 p.m. Monday, April 10.

Barrington Street will be closed between Blowers and Prince Streets beginning 5 a.m. Saturday, April 8 and reopen 7 p.m. Sunday, April 9.

Sackville Street will be closed between Barrington and Granville Streets beginning 5 a.m. Saturday, April 8 and reopen 7 p.m. Monday, April 10.

The weekend closure will ensure a safe, efficient and timely demolition as well as minimize public disruption.  Local businesses will remain open and all parking garages will be accessible. 

Traffic control will be on-site throughout the demolition phase of the project to direct traffic and ensure pedestrians remain out of closed areas. 

Marked detours will be in place along the following routes:

Barrington Street south bound: Barrington Street, right onto Prince Street, left onto Argyle Street, left onto Blowers Street, right onto Barrington Street and continue.

Barrington Street north bound:  Barrington Street, right onto Blowers Street, left onto Granville Street, left onto Prince Street, right onto Barrington Street and continue.

Sackville Street:  Sackville Street, right onto Argyle Street, left onto Blowers Street, left onto Granville Street, right onto Sackville Street and continue.

Halifax Transit passengers on routes that normally travel the affected portion of Barrington Street should expect minor service delays due to required detours. Call the Departures Lines at 902-480-8000 for up-to-date bus departure information for your bus stop during the street closure.
