Barrington Street – Street Closure

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents and motorists Barrington Street, between Bishop Street and Spring Garden Road, will re-open by 4 p.m.

A structural engineer has been on site and has given the all-clear from a safety perspective.

A church steeple at St. Matthew’s United Church fell after high winds overnight Tuesday, and a vulnerable pillar on the south side of the church was removed last night as a safety precaution.

A boom truck is currently being dismantled and traffic control personnel will depart shortly.

Pedestrians should note the east sidewalk will remain closed to allow for clean-up on Friday.
