Bedford couple faces charges after drug search

A Bedford couple faces charges after a drug search at a residence on Torrington Drive last night.

At 7:15 p.m. officers assigned to the HRP/RCMP Integrated Drug Unit executed a search warrant at the residence. Officers discovered a sophisticated marijuana grow operation and subsequently seized a large quantity of marijuana plants in various stages of cultivation, a quantity of marijuana as well as drug paraphernalia.

Further, officers allege the male suspect was stealing electricity to run the grow operation and this aspect of the investigation is on-going.

The man and woman, both 33, are scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date charged with production and trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Further charges are possible in relation to the theft of power.
