Bedford gets ready for Bedford Days 2009!

Bedford Days Minor Baseball Tournaments

The annual Bedford Days tournament will once again be held for the Mosquito, Pee-Wee, Bantam AAA divisions, as well as the Midget AA. All games will be played at Joan and Robert Lenihan (Range Park) in Bedford. The will mark the 28th year for the tournament, and is one of the older minor baseball tournaments being held in Bedford. Come watch some exciting baseball being played by possibly some future stars.

Halloween in June

Dress up and join us at the Bedford Public Library for a Halloween Party featuring puppets, stories and more. It’s sure to be a ghostly good time! Free tickets will be given out 15 minutes before the program (All ages.)

Bedford Days Kick Off Celebration!
Location: DeWolf Park
6pm: Glow Parties Bouncy Castle only
Arrive before 7pm and beat the line-ups for the Glow Parties Playground Extravaganza.
7-10:30pm: Entertainment
10pm: Pyrotechnic Fireworks show

Bedford Days festivities kick off with a bang. Join us for live music by Shanneyganock as well as children’s entertainment. Don’t miss the amazing pyrotechnic fireworks show behind the stage at 10pm. The best view of these fireworks will be in centre of DeWolf Park. Feed Nova Scotia will be onsite accepting donations.

Bring your lawn chair and blanket to DeWolf Park to eat some popcorn and enjoy “Madagascar Escape 2 Africa” (Rated PG) film on the big screen under the stars. Presented in partnership with alFresco Film Festival.

Summer Reading Program Kick-off Party

Calling all kids! Kick-off this year’s Summer Reading Program by dropping in to the Bedford Public Library anytime between 10 and 11:30am. Register for this fabulous program while enjoying games, crafts, prizes, cake and juice. (Ages 5+)

Children’s entertainment and a great show by Razzmatazz will provide loads of fun. Theodore Too will be making an appearance, thanks to WDCL (shine only). Don’t forget to stick around for Fireworks at the end of the night!

Bedford Days Community Georgian Tea

A Georgian Tea will be held at the historic Scott Manor House. Town crier Stewart MacMillan will make the proclamation with performances by Cheryl Reid-O’Hagan, student harpists, and the Farquharson Pipe and Drum Band.

Bedford Days Kids of Steel Triathlon

Location: Bedford Lions Pool (Shore Drive)

The Bedford Days Kids of Steel Triathlon is a multi-sport event made up of a swim, bike, and run event. The event is geared to children ages 4 to 15 with wide ranging capabilities. To take part, the youth must register, have a bike in good working order, and a bicycle helmet in good condition. There is a competitive race section for youth 12 to 15 and a non-competitive set of races for all age groups. Registration information can be found on The Triathlon Nova Scotia website: www.trins.ca

Cool Canines
Canine Agility Team

These dogs have talent! Come out and see one or even both of the Cool Canine’s shows. Watch them as they show off their agility running through the agility course. Fun for the whole family, these dogs of different breeds and sizes are not to be missed.

Duck Dash

Which duck swims the fastest? Come down to Fish Hatchery Park and see if it could be yours. Tickets will be on sale in DeWolf Park during Bedford Days events. First prize is $200., second prize is $100 and third prize is $50.

Bedford 5k Run

What better way to start Canada Day off than coming down to DeWolf Park for a wonderful pancake breakfast provided by the staff of the Sunnyside Too Restaurant. Pancakes for everyone! (While quantities last)

Teddy Bear Picnic
Location: DeWolf Park
11am-1:30pm

Teddy Bears deserve their own fun too. Bring your favourtie stuffed buddy to a picnic in their honour. There will be children’s entertainment, face painting, and more for you and your teddy bear to enjoy!
