Beer and cannabis stolen during home invasion

Halifax District RCMP responds to a report of a home invasion that occurred in Gaetz Brook.

Shortly after midnight on August 12th, Halifax District RCMP responded to a report of a home invasion on Haven Ln. in Gaetz Brook. RCMP officers learned that three woman and two men were present at the home when they were abruptly disturbed by three men, who had suddenly entered the home.

One of the three men, brandished a handgun, informed the occupants that it was a robbery. The men then restrained the five occupants, assaulted one of the male occupants and demanded money before ransacking the residence.

The assailants, who took beer and a small quantity of Cannabis, then fled the scene in a Kia Rondo that they stole from the property. The vehicle was later recovered by RCMP officers in North Preston.

The 47-year-old Gaetz Brook man suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital by EHS.

The three men are described as black. At the time of the robbery they were wearing masks and black hoodies.

Investigators do not believe this act to be random.

The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of RCMP Forensic Identification Services.
