I was contacted a month or two ago to try out Bellaboo, a natural skin care system created in Australia and distributed in Canada by Abundance Naturally, Missisauga, Ontario.
The line is meant for young skin (teens and tweens), which I don’t have, but I can totally benefit from what the products have to offer, and I’ll tell you how in a second. This is not the first time I tried products that aren’t for my age range 🙂
First, a closer look into the line, according to Bellaboo: The key ingredient in their skin care is certified organic Sea Buckthorn Berry Oil. This oil, taken from wild berries in the Himalayas, has over 100 nutrients, 24 minerals, 8 vitamins, and natural anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory action. It regulates and normalises skin to bring it back to a healthy balance. Sound good for any age, doesn’t it?
The product I tested was Bellaboo Girl on the Go kit. This is the travel version (40ml/1.35fl oz each tube) of the 3 Step Skin Care System, comes in a clear plastic tote with zipper (see above). The colours and packaging design are certainly eye catching 🙂 The kit retails for CAD18.49.
The products are:
– 99.5% natural-ingredient based and designed to work as a complete skin care solution
– Not tested on animals
– No parabens, petrochemicals, sulphates, mineral oils or animal-derived ingredients
– No artificial colors or fragrances.
Let’s see how they perform.
Step 1: All That Clean Skin Facial wash, with organic Sea Buckthorn Berry oil (to balance the oil production and anti-flammatory) and Lemon Myrtle (anti-bacterial and antiseptic).
As claimed, this product cleanses gently but deeply, removes my makeup well, leaves my skin clean and smooth. I’m liking what the Sea Buckthorn Berry oil does to my skin. I’m not an expert in this, but I know when something works for my skin, and this it it!
The scent is mildly herbal (similar in all 3 products of the line), which I don’t mind. It doesn’t linger very long after use.
Main ingredients: Purified Water, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Decyl Glucoside, PEG 120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate, Polysorbate 20, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil (Jojoba), Hippophae Rhamnoides Oil (Sea Buckthorn Berry), etc.
Step 2: Buff Skin Exfoliant, with organic Sea Buckthorn Berry oil, Bamboo extract (to remove dull skin cells) and Rice Bran powder (to heal blemishes, absorbs oil).
This scrub is gentle but don’t take it the wrong way. It works really well in smoothing the skin and leaving it in a great condition before the moisturizer kicks in. And you know I’m a big fan of scrubs.
Main ingredients: Purified Water, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil (Sweet Almond), Cetearyl Alcohol, Ceteareth 20, Bamboo (Bambusa Arundinaceae) Extract (Bamboo), Glycerin, Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate, Oryza Sativa Bran Powder (Rice), Hippophae Rhamnoides Oil (Sea Buckthorn Berry), etc.
Step 3: Gorgeous Skin Moisture Dew, with organic Sea Buckthorn Berry oil, Ylang Flower oil (to normalize oil production) and Aloe Vera extract (to hydrate the skin and speed healing).
It works in the skin quick and (again) is gentle but effective. I get up in the morning with the softness in the skin I have always wanted. No break-outs or bad effects on the face, I could take deep breaths now.
Main ingredients: Purified Water, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil (Sweet Almond), Cetearyl Alcohol, Ceteareth 20, Macadamia Ternifolia (Nut) Seed Oil (Macadamia), Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil (Jojoba), Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis) Extract (Aloe Vera), etc.
So, this set becomes stable in my skin care routine. I have to steer away from using it too often, as I wanted to save it for travelling – because of their perfect small size. If you come across this brand, I’d encourage you to give it a try. You don’t have to be 16 to wish for great skin, and don’t have to be 16 to use these products either. Good news? I think so 🙂
