Bide Awhile Animal Shelter Society has purchased 1,000 copies of The Happy Tale of Two Cats, and 1,000 copies of The Lucky Tale of Two Dogs by author Cathy M. Rosenthal, to donate to local groups and organizations, with the goal of teaching young kids about proper pet care.
“We could not be more thrilled to announce that we are launching two wonderful children’s books, which highlight responsible pet guardianship, and the necessary work of animal shelters,” Bide Awhile President Stephanie Willan said.
“At Bide Awhile, we have always known that the key to animal welfare is education. Continually keeping animal shelters at full capacity is not a solution – responsible pet guardianship is. Animal shelters are a stop-gap, but the real change starts in the home. As with so many things, children really are the instigators for change.”
By providing children with examples of how to be caring and responsible citizens, we believe they will grow up to be knowledgeable and empathetic caretakers of the next generation. This project is one more example of how Bide Awhile is taking the lead in the community by advocating for those who do not have a voice. Any group or organization that would like to receive copies of the books, are asked to contact Bide Awhile Animal Shelter at PR@bideawhile.org, or phone us at 902-469-9578.
