If the weather co-operates, the Bluenose II test drive will take place Wednesday, May 28.
A release will be issued Wednesday at about 7 a.m. to confirm if it will proceed.
Bluenose II will depart Lunenburg Foundry Wharf at about 9 a.m.
It will go near Cross Island in the harbour for engine, steering and anchor tests. The vessel is expected to begin its return at about 11:30 a.m.
Bluenose II will not be under sail during the tests, and will be accompanied by boats for observation and support.
The test drive will assess how ship systems perform when it is moving. It will also help determine if it is ready for sea trials, the final phase of the project.
