HRP release:
Police are advising the public of the planned street closures in relation to the Blue Nose Marathon in Halifax this weekend.
Halifax Regional Police is prepared for the Blue Nose Marathon and citizens can expect officer presence along the route to ensure safety of participants and road users. Citizens are advised to be careful not to make contact or re-position barricades while en route, as that can create a safety hazard for those in attendance.
On Saturday, the 5KM and Youth races will take place between 8 a.m. and noon in downtown Halifax. On Sunday, the 10KM race and full and half marathons will take place between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. throughout Halifax and Dartmouth.
On both days, road closures are expected to begin at 5 a.m. and will continue until 4 p.m. in some locations. Consider planning ahead and expect delays, particularly along the marathon route.
We thank citizens in advance for their co-operation and ask for everyone’s patience as the events are happening.
Good luck to all of the participants!
