boa apparel: stylish, affordable clothes for moms ( bamboo leggings with tummy control!)

I wasn’t one of those moms who easily transitioned from stylish pre-pregnancy, to pregnant to post-partum and back in her jeans and fabulous tops within a few weeks. It’s actually only really been recently that I’ve put in the effort (most days) to be out of jammies, joggers and hoodies and instead be showered, makeup’d and hair done by 9am. It takes a little extra planning, but those are always the days when I’m most successful as a stay at home mom. Starting my day right by taking a few minutes for myself goes a long way.

And it doesn’t really have to be hard. My mom uniform is usually something like a pair of leggings, a long tank or tee paired with a long sleeve cardi over top. Or a sweater dress and tights — so easy and you look instantly put together! Add a cute bag that turns from a handbag to a messenger and mom-friendly flat boots and you’re done.

Boa Apparel is a women’s fashion boutique in Toronto that’s affordable and chic and where nothing is mass produced. You’ll only find a few sizes in each style to ensure that your look is unique. They carry business casual to dressed up chic and everything in between (comfy tees, jeans, handbags, scarves, jewelry).

My new favorite item from Boa is their FAGA Bamboo High Waisted Leggings. The thick waist band is ideal for smoothing out your tummy and won’t give you a muffin top or cut in. And mamas, you’ll love that they stay up because of the thicker band, so you’re not constantly yanking on them trying to hike them back up while chasing little ones. Ultra soft, well made, smooth and eco-friendly at just $35.

I’m always looking for pieces that I can layer (nothing like a grumpy 2 year old in the middle of the grocery store to make you start sweating!) and that can be worn during the day and still work for nighttime if you’re going for coffee with a friend or out for a family dinner, and Boa has been a great resource.

Like this long sleeve black floral satin dress:

So pretty worn alone with tights, or pair it with a pair of skinnies, a fitted blazer, a belt and boots like I did last week while running errands with the kids, then out for dinner with the family.

Boa has a great collection of mom friendly jeans as well – skinnies that are cut higher in the back so you can bend over without making adjustments, and the fronts aren’t super low rise – a higher waist is comfortable and in reality, what most of us mamas are looking for. With all the flowy tops and long tunics, nobody knows what the waist looks like and as long as the muffin top is concealed and there’s no lumps and bumps, that’s all the matters. Click the links for skinnies and wide leg jeans options.

I love this cowl neck vest – I’d wear it now, but how perfect would it be for nursing, or if you’re expecting or to hide the post partum belly??

And keep in mind that shipping in Canada is FREE for orders over $50! This weekend Boa is having their First Ever Black Friday event!! From November 25th to November 27th only you can buy one regular priced item & get the 2nd of equal or lesser value at 50% OFF!! And make sure you fan Boa on facebook and twitter to keep up to date with new sales and promos!
