BODY WORLDS RX Pre-sale Tickets Available for the Holidays

Nova Scotians will soon have the opportunity to explore the biology and physiology of human health and the effects of disease, through a new exhibit at the Museum of Natural History.

BODY WORLDS RX runs from Jan. 13 through April 22, 2018, at the museum at 1747 Summer St. in Halifax. Pre-sale tickets will be available at the museum starting Friday, Dec. 8.

“It’s exciting to be the first province in Atlantic Canada to host a Body Worlds exhibit,” said Communities, Culture and Heritage Minister Leo Glavine. “I encourage all Nova Scotians to experience this world-renowned exhibit, right here, in our very own province.”

From organs and muscles, to the nervous system and skeletal structures, BODY WORLDS RX gives an unprecedented look inside the human body. The exhibit features donated cadavers preserved through plastination, a technique that removes the fluids from the body and replaces them with plastics that harden.

The specimens on display show comparisons and contrasts between healthy bodies and organs, and those stricken with disease, such as back pain, arthritis, cancer, diabetes, obesity, as well as cardiovascular diseases like arteriosclerosis and heart infarctions, dementia and more.

“We have all been working for several years on making this exhibit a reality and look forward to having it here in Halifax,” said Jeffrey Gray, curator, Museum of Natural History. “It will be a great way to kick off the Museum’s 150th anniversary celebrations.”

BODY WORLDS RX will be one of the largest exhibits ever hosted at the Museum of Natural History. For more information, visit https://naturalhistory.novascotia.ca/body-worlds-rx.
