Lunenburg District RCMP have charged an 18-year-old Bridgewater man with child pornography, extortion and assault.

On April 14th, Lunenburg District RCMP, with assistance from the Bridgewater Police Service and the RCMP Technological Crime Unit, executed a search warrant at a Bridgewater home.

As a result of the search, cellphones and computer equipment were seized by RCMP.

The investigation stemmed from a concerned staff member at Hebbville Academy that a 15-year-old female student had divulged that the accused had threatened to post nude pictures of her on the internet. The victim also alleged that she had been assaulted by the accused. The RCMP continue to investigate the matter to determine if there are any additional victims.

Nathaniel Alexander Mansfield, who was arrested in Bridgewater yesterday without incident, was remanded into custody. He is facing several charges including Possession of Child Pornography, Extortion and Assault. He is scheduled to appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court today. The investigation is continuing.
