Bus Vs Pedestrian Accident At Fairview Overpass

A man is in hospital after he was struck yesterday afternoon.

At 5:15 pm a Metro Transit bus was travelling north on Joe Howe Dr and proceeding under the Fairview Overpass heading towards the Bedford Highway. As the bus was travelling in this area, a male pedestrian was walking along the grass beside the street. As the bus approached him, the male stepped out in to the street in what appears to be an attempt to cross the street. The bus was not able to stop and struck the male. Police, Fire and EHS all attended the scene. A 25 year old male was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The investigation in to this incident is still ongoing but charges are not expected to be laid. 11-140447
