Cab driver robbed in Basinview area

Police are investigating the robbery of a taxi driver at approximately 4:30 a.m. this morning in the area of Basinview Drive and Rutledge Street in Bedford.

The driver had picked up a fare in downtown Halifax and drove to Rutledge Street. The suspect pulled a knife and threatened the driver, demanding cash. He was given an undisclosed amount of money and fled the taxi on foot.

The suspect is described as a white male with red hair and a red beard.

The driver was not injured in this incident and it remains under investigation.
