East Hants RCMP has charged a taxi driver from Lower Sackville with Theft over $5,000.

On November 23 police received a report that the accused had been driving a taxi in the East Hants area stole the client’s bank card and gained access to the client’s PIN #. He used that information to steal more than $20,000 from the victim over a period of time.

On December 2, police charged Rodney Bryan McCarthy, 57, with Theft over $5,000, and Uttering Threats related to the victim of the theft. McCarthy was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Shubenacadie Provincial Court on January 18, 2021.Investigators believe there may be additional victims.
