The Halifax Independent Filmmakers Festival (HIFF) is now accepting short film submissions from Atlantic Canadian filmmakers until Wednesday, April 1st, 2020. Entries will be accepted by online screener only through FilmFreeway.

Now entering its 14th year, HIFF showcases bold, original films that challenge convention in subject or form. Short films for HIFF 2020 will be selected by a peer-jury of local filmmakers.

Works-in-progress are eligible for submission, however finished films must be delivered no later than May 11th, 2020. Please be aware programmers only view the first version of a submitted film and will not accept a revised version later in the submission process.

Filmmakers whose work is selected to screen at HIFF 2020 will receive a free pass to the festival, a screening fee (based on rates set by the Independent Media Arts Alliance) and the opportunity to take part in HIFF professional development initiatives.
