CALL FOR ATLANTIC CANADIAN ENTRIES – Short Film Submissions Due April 1st, 11:59pm, 2020
The Halifax Independent Filmmakers Festival (HIFF) is now accepting short film submissions from Atlantic Canadian filmmakers until Wednesday, April 1st, 2020. Entries will be accepted by online screener only through FilmFreeway.
Now entering its 14th year, HIFF showcases bold, original films that challenge convention in subject or form. Short films for HIFF 2020 will be selected by a peer-jury of local filmmakers.
Submissions to HIFF 2020 must have been completed after January 1st, 2018, have a max. runtime of 25 minutes and be presented with English-language subtitles if in a language other than English.
Works-in-progress are eligible for submission, however finished films must be delivered no later than May 11th, 2020. Please be aware programmers only view the first version of a submitted film and will not accept a revised version later in the submission process.
Filmmakers whose work is selected to screen at HIFF 2020 will receive a free pass to the festival, a screening fee (based on rates set by the Independent Media Arts Alliance) and the opportunity to take part in HIFF professional development initiatives.
HIFF 2020 will take place from June 10th – 13th at Neptune Scotiabank Stages Theatre in downtown Halifax.
Entries for HIFF 2020 will be accepted by online screener only via FilmFreeway. There is a fee of $10 per Atlantic Canadian submission. Deadline for entries is April 1st, 11:59pm 2020.
