Call for volunteers – Municipal Boards and Committees

The Halifax Regional Municipality is seeking interested residents for a variety of important opportunities on Regional Council advisory committees and boards.

Citizens interested in connecting with the community are encouraged to apply for these volunteer opportunities no later than Monday, Feb. 10.

Volunteer opportunities (and the number of positions open) include:

  • Women’s Advisory Committee (8 positions)
  • Design Advisory Committee (12 positions)
  • Western Common Advisory Committee (6 positions)
  • Regional Watersheds Advisory Board (2 positions)

As a new committee, the Women’s Advisory Committee will support the creation of a gender inclusive municipality and provide advice to Regional Council on matters relevant to the municipal mandate.

The Women’s Advisory Committee shall include two members of Regional Council and women from the following communities:

  • African Nova Scotian and Black communities;
  • Indigenous/aboriginal communities;
  • 2SLGBTQ+ communities;
  • Immigrant communities;
  • Women with disabilities, and
  • Francophone/Acadian community

Residents are encouraged to provide additional information that may assist in the selection process, such as a cover letter and resume.

Residents should note all appointments are made in accordance with the Public Appointment Policy adopted by Regional Council.
