Calls from NS Health facilities will no longer show “unknown number” on caller ID

Via social media:

In a post on X (Formally Twitter) today, Nova Scotia Health announced a significant change in how they contact patients by phone. Moving forward, the names and numbers of their health facilities will now appear on caller ID instead of displaying as ‘unknown number.’ This change aims to improve communication and ensure patients do not miss important messages about their care.

This update comes in response to feedback from patients who reported that they often did not answer calls from unknown numbers, leading to missed messages and potential gaps in healthcare information. By showing the facility name and number, Nova Scotia Health says they hope to increase the likelihood that patients will answer these important calls.

However, there are considerations for privacy. In sensitive situations, facilities still have the option to appear as “Unknown Number.” This allows for discretion in some cases where revealing the facility’s identity might not be appropriate.
