Campbell Canada helps hunger disappear in Halifax

Campbell Canada helps hunger disappear in Halifax in recognition of Hunger Awareness Day – Partners with local Sobeys in support of FEED NOVA SCOTIA:

In recognition of Hunger Awareness, Campbell Company of Canada is taking its commitment to help alleviate hunger to communities across Canada.

On June 17, residents of Halifax Regional Municipality can help contribute to this overall goal and show their support for FEED NOVA SCOTIA by participating in a local Help Hunger Disappear event.

A large-scale display featuring the word HUNGER built out of 3,000 Campbell’s soup cans will be on display at the Bedford Sobeys, located at 961 Bedford Highway.

Visitors, which will include local dignitaries and VIPs, will be urged to remove cans, one-by-one, until the word HUNGER literally disappears.

At the end of the day, all cans will be donated to FEED NOVA SCOTIA.

Throughout June and July, Campbell Canada will donate up to 100,000 cans of Campbell’s® Condensed Vegetable Soup to Food Banks Canada through online and in-store Help Hunger Disappear™ activities.

Nearly 800,000 Canadians rely on their local food bank every month – in Nova Scotia alone, approximately 40,000 individuals per month rely on food banks and meal programs.

This event will take place on Thursday, June 17, 2010. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., HUNGER built from 3,000 Campbell’s soup cans will be on display.

Canadians can also visit www.facebook.com/CampbellCanada and pledge to Help Hunger Disappear. For every pledge, Campbell Canada will donate a can of Campbell’s Condensed Vegetable Soup. The goal is to get 60,000 pledges and donate 60,000 cans in 60 days!

For a limited time Campbell Canada will introduce a new Help Hunger Disappear Campbell’s Condensed Vegetable Soup can.

This is the first time Campbell Canada has dedicated one of its iconic red and white cans to a charitable cause. The new Help Hunger Disappear cans will continue to raise awareness for the issue of hunger and encourage Canadians to donate nutritious foods to their local food banks during the summer. The cans will be available at grocery stores across Canada.
