The Canadian Armed Forces Parachute Team, The SkyHawks, is Canada’s only military parachute demonstration team. For over 40 years, they have represented Canada and the Canadian Armed Forces to over 75 million spectators worldwide under their signature Canadian flag parachutes. Thanks to our partnership with the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo, the SkyHawks will be in Halifax for Canada Day!

Bringing their parachutes in close proximity to build formations in the sky, the team puts on a spectacular show. Performing these aerobatic parachute formations requires a high level of skill and courage; and is known as Canopy Relative Work.

Main Event Concert  Jul 1, 2018 5:00 PM – 11:59 PM
Everyone’s favorite free, all-age, concert of the summer is back at Alderney Landing this year!

Put on your red and white, and get ready to celebrate together.

Juno nominated Allan Rayman makes his Atlantic Canadian debut to show Halifax exactly why major festivals like Osheaga, Field Trip, Bunbury Festival and others have nabbed this breakout artist for their stage this summer. Allan Rayman is known for being quite on social media, preferring to let his sound speak for itself. His music is a smokey blend of alternative R&B meets grunge-rock and will be a perfect headliner to what promises to be one of the most spectacular LIVE music experiences of summer ’18.

Another Juno nominated artist, and Dartmouth favourite, MoKenney Music is fresh off an ECMA win from her latest album, ‘The Details’, and is ready to rock the Canada Day Main Stage. Mo Kenney has been consistently producing some of the best music to come out of the region with captivating vocals, and song writing, wrapped in a cozy indie vibe we can’t get enough of.

Supporting acts will include Nova Scotia’s own T.Thomason ‘s raw and emotional rock sound and Alfie who’s been transforming his hip-hop swag to a matured, sultry R&B, act with serious soul.

The day wraps up with our iconic firework show over the Halifax Harbour, but the night is JUST getting started… Skratch Bastid, Canadian DJ legend and official ambassador to Red Bull 3Style, is back in Halifax to remind you that true turntabilism is alive and well. Skratch Bastid has unreal energy at his shows, playing whatever it takes to keep the crowd pumped up and moving late into the night.

Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo Planning “Canada Day The Tattoo Way”

Don’t look for the same-old Canada Day Parade this year: the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo is taking over the Halifax Commons for their Canada Day fun – and the SkyHawks parachute team will be dropping in!

Instead of a Canada Day Parade, visitors can head to the Commons for free all-day fun for the whole family.

“We’re extremely excited to have the SkyHawks parachute team join us this year. They’ll do a jump at 11:30 am over the Commons,” says Jennie King, Managing Director and Executive Producer of the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo.

“We’ll also have Tattoos and Trucks, an interactive display with all kinds of vehicles from the Canadian Armed Forces, Halifax Regional Police, Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency and other partners.”

The Canadian Armed Forces are sending a Tactical Armoured Patrol Vehicle (TAPV) and a G-Wagon, Halifax Regional Police is sending a police SUV, and Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency is sending a fire engine and a rescue truck.

There will also be live music and performances, science experiments, face painting, crafts, bouncy castles, and food trucks at the Halifax Commons. The City will also have shows and meet and greets with the K9 Hi Flyers Dog Agility Team.

The Tattoo plans to host two shows on Canada Day, says King, due to the popularity of the holiday show.

“The Tattoo is all about patriotism and inspiring its audience with the stories of brave men and women who fought for freedom and peace. Canada Day has always been our best-seller and we decided to schedule an evening show this year to accommodate the crowds.”

King noted that audiences will get out just in time for fireworks over the Halifax Harbour.
