Canada Games Centre Slide Closed

(Monday, March 14, 2011) – The Canada Games Centre wishes to inform the public that one of the two slides on the pool deck of the Centre is closed until further notice. On Thursday, March 10th, a young person came down the blue slide and went beyond the landing area at the bottom.  The individual was not injured and pool staff immediately closed the slide.

Canada Games Centre management has been in contact with the slide manufacturer and consultants, and is looking at the design, engineering, installation and operation of the slide.
Safety is our number one priority. All equipment at the Centre has been sourced and installed by reputable professionals, and tested in advance of the Centre opening.  A decision on re-opening the slide will be based primarily on the safety of Centre users and after a thorough investigation.
