Some exciting Canadian book news.

First from the 2010 Commonwealth Writer’s Prize:

Under This Unbroken Sky by Shandi Mitchell has been named Best First Book by the Commonwealth Writer’s Prize for the Canadian and Caribbean region.

As well, Michael Crummey’s novel Galore was named the Best Book for the Canadian and Caribbean region .

Also in the news, Canada Reads has announced that Nikolski, by Nicolas Dickner has won this year’s competition.

Wayson Choy‘s The Jade Peony was runner up.
