It has been a boring weekend with messy weather, I won’t even get to that.
I am probably the last blogger to review the February Glossy Box. It has been a long wait to get the box since I was contacted near the end of last year, due to a shipping delay.
My excitement died down a little with the wait, and also with the surprise factor being taken away when I saw the exact same content with every Glossy Box out there this month.
With a subscription of $15 a month, you will receive a beautiful box in dark chocolate colour with powder pink flower prints (Glossy Box’s logo). Note that other Beauty Box subscriptions cost between $10 – $12 a month.
Inside is a sturdy square pink box that houses 5 beauty product luxury samples, nicely wrapped in dark chocolate paper and pink ribbon. I appreciate the luxuirous feeling it gives, and you can definitely recycle the box to store something else. So appearance got an A+ from me.
The content only got a B for missing out on personalized details. What is the point of creating a profile if everyone is going to receive the exact same items? It doesn’t take much to match things up to people’s taste a little, especially with higher subscription cost. It would make opening the box a lot more exciting, in my opinion.
One more time, here are what was inside my box:
– Elizabeth Arden Prevage Night Anti-Aging Restorative Cream (.25oz/ 7ml) – full size is 50ml, $160
– Ahava Deadsea Water Mineral Hand Cream (0.68oz/ 20ml) – full size is 100nl, $22.
– Oscar de la Renta Live in Love body lotion (1.7oz/ 50ml) – full size is 200ml, $54
– Elizabeth Grant Moisturizing Stick (5gr – full size, $12).
– Essie Nailpolish in Neo Whimsical (13.8ml – full size, $10).
– Beauty So Clean Sanitizing Wipes (4’s) – full size is 48’s pack, $12.50, and Mist (0.27oz/ 8ml) – full size is 125ml, $16.
Elizabeth Arden Prevage and Ahava hand cream have received positive reviews on blogs. And Beauty So Clean products are essentials to everybody’s makeup stash. I haven’t heard much about the other 2 products, we’ll see.
The Essie nail polish shade, unfortunately, is not my kind of colour. People’s taste in nail polish is very different. Unless the colour is a really popular one that everybody wants, or unless Glossy Box can figure out what people want from their profile, having a bottle in the box might be a little risky.
All in all, it’s great to see a new box to enter the Canadian market. I like the February box and hope the quality stays true through future boxes. I hope Glossy Box changes up the contents for different subscribers and improves the shipping time.
