Cancellation of curbside solid waste collection and facility closures on Monday, Feb. 13

Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that due to a significant winter storm forecast to affect the Halifax Region tomorrow, curbside collection of garbage, recycling and green carts is cancelled for Monday, Feb. 13. Please do not place material curbside, and remove any garbage bins from the curb or sidewalk area to facilitate snow clearing operations.

Residents who would normally have collection on Monday, Feb. 13, will instead be allowed double the garbage limits next collection cycle on Monday, Feb. 27.

The municipality is also advising the public and commercial solid waste haulers that the following solid waste management facilities will be closed tomorrow, Monday, Feb. 13 due to the impending winter storm:

  • Otter Lake Waste Processing & Disposal Facilities at 600 Otter Lake Drive, Timberlea
  • Materials Recycling Facility at 20 Horseshoe Lake Drive, Halifax
  • Composting facilities at 80 Gloria McCluskey Avenue, Burnside & 61 Evergreen Place, Goodwood

The municipality regrets any inconvenience this service delay may cause, and thanks residents in advance for their cooperation.
