Cape Breton Island ranked #1 in Canada for the third straight year

Cape Breton Island is celebrating a three-peat of being ranked the #1 Island in Canada in the Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards, as announced on Travel + Leisure’s website this morning. The awards honour the top travel destinations and companies around the globe as rated by Travel + Leisure readers.

“To be voted #1 Island in Canada for the third year in a row by the readers of Travel + Leisure is amazing,” says Terry Smith, CEO of Destination Cape Breton. “Given the challenges that our tourism industry has faced this year, it’s wonderful to have such a great accolade that demonstrates the enduring appeal of Cape Breton Island as a destination.”

Each year, the readers of Travel + Leisure, the largest and most influential travel magazine brand in the United States, rate their recent experiences with destinations, hotels and resorts, spas, tour operators and safari outfitters, airlines, cruise lines, and rental car companies in their World’s Best Awards survey.

The Lodge at Cabot Cape Breton in Inverness was also ranked among the Top Resort Hotels in Canada in this year’s awards.

“While people are staying close to home this year, they are probably dreaming of where they can travel in the future and this ranking can put Cape Breton Island on their bucket lists,” says Smith. “We sincerely thank the readers of Travel + Leisure who ranked us so highly and look forward to seeing them again when it’s safe for them to visit.”

The World’s Best Awards appear in the August 2020 issue of Travel + Leisure and online at this link: https://www.travelandleisure.com/worlds-best.
