NOTE: A list of schools receiving capital repairs funding follows this release.
Government is investing in school improvements, upgrades, and repairs as part of this year’s capital repairs funding plan.
Projects have been approved for 25 schools across the province through an investment of more than $6 million.
“Our goal is to provide students and teachers with schools that are safe and well-equipped to meet their learning needs while working within the province’s fiscal plan,” said Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Karen Casey.
“These repairs will help to maintain and improve existing infrastructure in communities across the province.”
The eight school boards have been notified of the schools that have been approved for repairs and are now preparing to move forward with their renovations.
Approved capital projects for 2016-17 include roof repairs, creating new learning spaces, barrier free access, fire safety improvements, replacing boilers, windows and interior work.
All capital repairs projects must represent improvements to school infrastructure with a budget between $150,000 and $1 million in order to be eligible.
