Cash register stolen from store, charges laid

Shelburne RCMP has charged a man after an armed robbery at a store in Lydgate.

On February 17, 2023, at approximately 9:10 a.m., Shelburne RCMP responded to a panic alarm at a store on Brighton Rd. in Lydgate. While responding, RCMP officers learned that two men arrived in a black van. One of the men entered the store with a gun, pointed it an employee and took the till. Both men then fled in the van. The gun used in the robbery had been dropped outside the store before the men fled. The employee was not physically injured during the incident.

The van eventually stopped and the driver, and lone occupant, was safely arrested.
