Catherine Blewett, clerk and secretary to cabinet, Deputy Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and CEO of Immigration, will join the federal public service June 20.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced today, March 8, Ms. Blewett will serve as Deputy Minister of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

“Catherine has made a significant contribution to public service in Nova Scotia and I am pleased she has been recognized nationally,” said Premier Stephen McNeil. “Catherine’s dedication in key areas such as immigration and intergovernmental relations have positioned Nova Scotia well for continued progress.”

“I have been very grateful for Catherine’s leadership as head of the provincial public service, and am proud of the fact that one of Nova Scotia’s most senior civil servants has the opportunity to take her passion and abilities to Ottawa.”
