Celebrate CMHA Mental Health Week

The Canadian Mental Health Association Nova Scotia Division (CMHA NS) is celebrating its 68thannual Mental Health Week from May 6-12 with public events and activities happening across the province.

The theme of this year’s Mental Health Week iswhat mental health really is. Mental health is a state of well-being and we all have it. Whether or not we have a mental illness, we can all feel well. One in five Canadians experiences a mental health illness or problem every year, but all five in five of us have mental health, just like we all have physical health. It is about having a sense of purpose, strong relationships, feeling connected to our communities, knowing who we are, coping with stress and enjoying life. And it’s never too early or too late to get there.

“CMHA NS Division is asking all Nova Scotians’ to participate in Mental Health Week, and “Get Loud” on social media and in their communities, workplaces and schools about what mental health really is, to clear up the difference between “mental health” and “mental illness” and suggest what good mental health looks like, “ says Pamela Magee Executive Director of CMHA NS Division.
