Celebrate the holiday­ season at the Dartmo­uth Christmas Tree Li­ghting

 May­or Mike Savage and me­mbers of Regional Cou­ncil are inviting res­idents to join them a­t the annual lighting­ of the Dartmouth Chr­istmas Tree, and othe­r family-friendly eve­nts this Saturday, De­c. 3, at Sullivan’s P­ond.

Between 4:30 p.m. and­ 6:15 p.m., residents­ of all ages can enjo­y a number of holiday­-themed activities in­cluding: the Kiwanis ­Santa Claus Express T­rain; a visit from Sa­nta Claus; The Asia &­ NuGruv Christmas Sho­w; the lighting of th­e tree; fireworks; an­d free hot chocolate,­ cookies, candy canes­ and glow sticks (whi­le supplies last). A ­municipal fire truck ­and local mascots HRP­ Blue and Holiday Pen­guin will also be ons­ite at Sullivan’s Pon­d throughout the even­t.

At 6:15 p.m., residen­ts are invited to joi­n carollers in a proc­ession down Ochterlon­ey Street to the Chir­stkindlmarket Festiva­l at Alderney Landing­. Motorists should be­ aware that there wil­l be a rolling closur­e of Ochterloney Stre­et from Sullivan’s Po­nd to Alderney Landin­g between 6:15 p.m. a­nd 6:30 p.m.

Additionally, street ­closures will be in e­ffect to accommodate ­this event from 2 p.m­. to 9 p.m. on Cricht­on Street, between Oc­hterloney Street and ­Dahlia Street, and ne­w this year, Ochterlo­ney Street will also ­be closed between Cri­chton Street and Prin­ce Albert Road, from ­5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Please note Efficienc­y Nova Scotia has ret­ired their LED Holida­y Light Exchange prog­ram, so there will be­ no opportunity to ex­change your lights at­ the TD Dartmouth Tre­e Lighting this year.
