Celebrations: Remembrance Day and the 100th anniversary of WWI

Alliance Française Halifax (AFH) is pleased to offer you a special programming to mark Remembrance Day and the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI :

· November 11: The Consulate of France in the Atlantic Provinces and the Alliance Française Halifax invite you to gather on November 11 to mark Remembrance Day. Mr. Robert-Yves Mazerolle, Honorary Consul of France in Halifax will be laying a wreath at the Grand Parade Cenotaph. The ceremony will begin at 11 am.

· November 21: Movie Night: See You Up Therea dark comedy by director Albert Dupontel (2017) adapted from the acclaimed novel by Pierre Lemaitre.

· November 30: Documentary Night: Là où poussent les coquelicots (2016) by Vincent Marie

Where do the images from WWI that haunt our imagination come from? To actually see the war, not only tell it, but show it and personify it : that is what comic books is doing today.
Through archives and history, the authors we meet in that documentary talk with the depth of time. They resuscitate First World War in our imagination: their drawing are more than lines. The First World War has become their main subject for their graphic novels. Following them, we will sketch the fragmented memory of drawing chronicle of 14-18.
