Centennial Pool to re-open in January

Wednesday, Dec.

4, 2013 (Halifax, NS) – Renovations are well underway at one of Halifax’s landmark recreational facilities, Centennial Pool.

Extensive work is being done to the public areas of the 45-year-old pool, including the change rooms, showers, and reception area.

When completed, the renovations will help create a fully accessible, updated facility that should extend the life of the building by another 20 years.

The pool was scheduled to re-open this month. However, during construction it was recognized the building’s structural supports needed to be repaired. That work was required before contractors could return to their original renovations.

This extra work means the pool is now scheduled to re-open in late January.

HRM has collaborated with the various aquatic teams and pool users to help accommodate their needs at other city facilities while Centennial Pool is closed.

HRM apologizes for any inconvenience these renovations may cause and thanks you for your patience.
