The Halifax Convention Centre Corp. today, Feb. 22, announced that Carrie Cussons has been appointed president and CEO of the organization for a contract period to Nov. 30, 2018.

said Justin McDonough, chair of the board of directors, Halifax Convention Centre Corp. “The organization is at a critical stage as we prepare to open the new convention centre and transfer all convention operations and employees of Trade Centre Limited to the new corporate structure. We felt it was essential to ensure continuity in leadership.”
Ms. Cussons brings a diverse business background, including over two decades of management experience with a concentration in financial and operational leadership. She joined the organization in 2009 as chief financial officer and oversaw the corporate services group with responsibility for finance, human resources and technology. She quickly became a strategic lead in all areas of the business and was responsible for developing and implementing the organization’s plan to prepare for the transition to the new Halifax Convention Centre.
“I am excited to be leading the organization through such an important period,” said Ms. Cussons. “As we prepare for the opening of the new convention centre, our team will continue to attract a diverse mix of conventions, sporting and entertainment events and deliver on our vision to create memorable event experiences through our facilities and our services.”
The Halifax Convention Centre Corp. is a government partnership between the Province of Nova Scotia and the Halifax Regional Municipality. In addition to oversight and management of the Halifax Convention Centre, the organization will continue to manage and operate Scotiabank Centre and Ticket Atlantic.
