June 19, 2013 – Cha Baa Thai Restaurant has opened a new location in Bedford. They are located at 1511 Bedford Highway. Many of you will know this as the old Wendy’s location, close to the famous Chickenburger.
This is the 3rd location for Cha Baa Thai. They opened their first location on Queen Street in Halifax 5 years ago and then opened a second location on Ilsley Ave in Burnside 3 years ago. After much success at both locations and increasing demand from patrons, owners Wen and May Prathumma decided to open a third location in Bedford with seating for 120 people.
I have eaten at both of their other locations and I decided to check out the new restaurant with 5 others. We walked in and were impressed with the décor and atmosphere. We were promptly greeted by friendly staff and seated near the bar. Our server was very friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu.
Within minutes of ordering, our spring rolls arrived hot and fresh, served with a sweet and spicy dipping sauce. The chef/owner came to speak with us and brought out 2 samples of new items that will be featured on the expanded lunch menu. The new dishes are a halibut dish and a salmon dish, both were bursting with flavor.
Despite how busy the restaurant was, our main dishes arrived about 15 minutes after we placed our order. All of our dishes were very flavorful and made with fresh ingredients. All of the flavors are well balanced and no single ingredient overpowered another. Some dishes, such as the cashew chicken, come with a little bit of spice/heat, but for those who like it hotter (or milder) the kitchen is always willing to accommodate to your preference.
If I had to use one word to describe my experience at Cha Baa Thai, it would be “Amazing”.
The new Bedford location will be open 11:30 am to 10 pm every day except Tuesdays, that is until September when they will open 7 days a week.
I would give Cha Baa Thai 5 stars and recommend that you give them a try at any of their locations.
Until next time… Happy eating!
