**** Transit Media Release
Changes to Halifax Transit fares have passed first reading at Regional Council. This means that, pending approval of the second reading, by-law U-105 will come into affect, increasing Adult and Senior cash fares by $0.25.
As well, the municipality will:
– start planning for a Student Transit Pass pilot program
– study income levels of seniors who are regular bus users and the costs of fare increases while adopting an enhanced seniors low income pass
– identify funding for the youth free transit program pilot
More detailed information on Halifax Transit fare changes will be available in the coming weeks.
