Charges after assaults with chainsaw, tree trimmer and moving vehicle

Patrol members of the Halifax Regional Police are investigating an assault with a weapon call that occurred last evening.

At approximately 6:02p.m. April 25th, police responded to an disturbance call outside a residence in the 100-200 block of Caledonia Road in Dartmouth.

Officers attended and it was learned that two men became involved in a physical altercation outside. During the altercation, one of the men attacked another man with a chainsaw and tree trimmer. A third man intervened and stopped the altercation before anyone was injured. As a result, he was struck by a vehicle driven by a woman which appears to have jumped the roadside curb intending to strike the victim.

There were no serious injuries reported. A 45 year old Dartmouth man and 47 year old Lower Sackville woman were charged with the following and released, scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial court at a future date:

-Assault with a weapon

-Possession of weapons dangerous to the public, 

all under the Criminal Code of Canada.
