Charges after Dartmouth store robbed

Police have charged a man in relation to a robbery that occurred last night in Dartmouth.

At approximately 11:45 p.m. East Division patrol officers and a K9 team responded to a robbery that had just occurred at the Needs Convenience store located at 543 Portland Street. A man came into the store, demanded cigarettes and money from the employees before fleeing on foot with a quantity of cash, cigarettes and lottery tickets.

Officers arrested the suspect without incident a short distance away.

A 52-year-old man is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court at a later date to face a charge of robbery.
