Charges after men assaulted at Dartmouth Sobeys store

Halifax Regional Police have charged a man in relation to an assault that occurred in Dartmouth on June 15.

On June 30, HRP requested the public’s assistance identifying the suspects in relation to an assault that occurred on June 15 in Dartmouth. Later that day, officers arrested a 29-year-old man at an address in the 1600 block of the Bedford Highway following a tip from the public.

The man is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court at a later date to face one count each of aggravated assault and assault.

On June 15 at approximately 9:10 p.m. police responded to reports of an assault that had occurred at the Sobeys at 210 Wyse Road in Dartmouth. A man approached two men who were not known to him and assaulted them. The suspect then fled to a waiting vehicle that was occupied by a man and a woman. One of the victims was treated at the scene and the second was taken to hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The woman who was in the vehicle has also been identified.

The incident remains under investigation by members of the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.
