Charges after stabbing at Dal Homecoming event last year

Halifax Regional Police have charged a man in relation to a stabbing that occurred in Halifax on October 1, 2022.

On January 11, 2023, police requested the public’s assistance identifying a suspect in relation to a stabbing that occurred October 1, 2022. At approximately 10:20 p.m., officers were in the area of Jennings and Larch streets in relation to the unsanctioned Dalhousie Homecoming events when they were approached by a 19-year-old man who had injuries consistent with having been stabbed. The man was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Yesterday, members of the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division travelled to Moncton, New Brunswick, and, with the assistance of Codiac RCMP, arrested 19-year-old Austin Wambolt without incident.

Wambolt is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date to face the following charges:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public
