Charges after stabbing near Scotiabank Centre

Halifax Regional Police has laid charges in relation to a stabbing that occurred yesterday in Halifax.

At approximately 3:50 p.m., police responded to a report of a stabbing in the area of Brunswick and Carmichael streets. Officers located a 24-year-old man who had been stabbed. The man was transported to hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers arrested the suspect in the area a short time later. Caleb Matthew Peters, 19, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace
  • Obstruction
  • Fail to comply with a release order
