Charges After Stabbing On Bedford Highway

At about 250 am members of the Halifax Regional Police responded to the 600 block of the Bedford Highway for a disturbance.

Responding officers observed a blood trail in the hallway of the building and located 2 males with what appeared to be knife wounds. One male was transported to the QE2 with non life threatening injuries. The other was treated at the scene. Members of the General Investigation Section and Forensic Identification Section are at the scene to assist in the investigation.

During an altercation a 29 year old man was stabbed by a 35 year old man. Both men live in the same apartment complex on the Bedford Highway. After being stabbed the victim returned to his apartment and called the police. Halifax Regional Police members attended and located the suspect at his residence, he was subsequently arrested and has been in police custody since then, he will be charged with assault with a weapon and it is believed he will be released, with a  court date at a later time. While at the scene he was assessed by EHS for a cut to his hand. The victim remains in hospital with a stab wound to his arm. The investigation is continuing, a search warrant is being executed at the scene.
