Charges after suspect approaches group of people, stabbing two

Police have laid charges in a stabbing that occurred in Halifax on the weekend.

On May 22 at approximately 4:10 a.m., police responded to a report of a stabbing in the 1200 block of Barrington Street. A man approached a group of people who were not known to him and stabbed two men. Both men were transported to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Officers arrested the suspect at the scene.

Austin Blake, 24, is schedule to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of:

  • Attempted murder
  • Aggravated assault
  • Assault causing bodily harm
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace
