Charges in Dartmouth homicide

Last night, investigators in the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division charged Nicholas Roland Rhyno, 33, of St. Margaret’s Bay, with second degree murder in relation to the homicide of Zachery Jordell Charles Grosse, 25, of Dartmouth.

Rhyno was arrested without incident at approximately 8:20 a.m. yesterday in Halifax. He is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. on October 22, police responded to a weapons/injured person call and located Zachery outside 24 Primrose Street. Zachery was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at approximately 1 a.m. on October 23. The Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy and ruled Zachery’s death a homicide.

Investigators believe that Zachery’s murder was not a random act. Investigators are not looking for additional suspects, and we ask that people refrain from speculating on misinformation on the case that is currently circulating on social media.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking anyone with information about Zachery’s murder to call police at 902-490-5016. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers by calling toll-free 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submitting a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca or by using the P3 Tips App.

Zachery’s family and loved ones remain in our thoughts and we hope that the charge laid yesterday brings some measure of comfort to them.
