Charges in Dartmouth homicide, victim’s name released

Police have charged a man in relation to a homicide that occurred earlier this week in Dartmouth and are releasing the name of the victim.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. on May 12, officers responded to a report of gun shots and an injured man in the area of the Dartmouth waterfront near the 0-100 block of Alderney Drive. Officers located a man who was suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

An autopsy was conducted by the Medical Examiners Service yesterday and the cause of death has been ruled a homicide. The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Tyler Michael Boyd Algee.

Officers arrested three people in the area at the time of the incident. Last night, investigators in the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division charged Justin Ronald Adams-Clarke, 23, of Elmsdale with second degree murder and possession of a weapon while prohibited. The other two people taken in to custody were released without charges yesterday.

At this time, investigators believe this is not a random incident and they are not looking for any other suspects.

Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to call police at 902-490-5020.  Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers by calling toll-free 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submitting a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca or by using the P3 Tips app.
